COMMUNITY

Morningside Library - Call for Artists!

As our local branch has just installed a hanging system, members of the community have the opportunity to display their artwork! You can also provide a pricing list with your artwork for those interested in purchasing. The priority for submissions does go to those who live in the community so you will be an artistic ambassador of East Scarborough.

EDUCATION

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto offers youth in co-op communities the opportunity for scholarships in their post-secondary pursuits. The CHFT Diversity Scholarships recognize young people in co-ops who are actively striving to make a difference through work within their community. These individuals promote diversity and the strength in a multi-cultural community.

In 2010, CHFT offered a total of ten scholarships in four different categories.

Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates entering College or University. As well, CHFT offers financial assistance for those who are currently enrolled in College or University or those returning to school after a break.

The Dexter Johnston Scholarship recognizes youth who have exhibited strong leadership skills in their academic and community spheres.

The Randy Padmore Scholarship recognizes individuals who are positive mentors in the lives of young people.

The Success Becomes You Scholarship acknowledges those determined to succeed at the post-secondary level or in a skilled trade who did not have an opportunity to finish high school due to family, financial or other circumstances.
