On LED Lighting

You can help reduce the co-op's hydro bill by purchasing LED lamps. The LED lights are often on sale prior to Christmas. Decorative lighting for your seasonal displays should use LED lighting. Printed here are some advantages to LED lighting.

LED LAMPS ARE ENERGY EFFICIENT - LED lamps produce higher lumen's per watt, generate minimal heat and can be up to 85% more efficient than traditional light sources. With traditional light sources, so much of the light energy produced is lost to heat.

LED LAMPS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LED lights contain no mercury or lead and are completely RoHS compliant. They also provide a cool light that is free of any harmful UV emissions and consequently minimizes any discolouration or fading. LED lamps make it easy for you to do your part in creating a safer environment.

LED LAMPS HAVE A LONG SERVICE LIFE The long service life of LED lamps translates into fewer lamp replacements and increased efficiencies. Some LEDs are projected to produce a service life of 35 000 to 50 000 hours, perfect for hard-to-reach places.

LED LAMPS ARE DURABLE Because LED lamps do not contain a filament, there is no threat of damage due to shock or vibration.

LED LAMPS PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS When looking at the total cost of ownership it is important to factor in more than just the initial cost of the lamp. Re lamping costs, labour costs, energy costs and material waste are but a few of the factors that need to be considered in the evaluation.

By purchasing LED lighting we help the environment by reducing the total energy consumed.
